Tyler Pletcher
(Class of 2025 - Graduated)
Tyler (James) Pletcher recently graduated from high school in his junior year, an incredible achievement. He has been an crucial part of Magnetude Robotics, serving as builder for 3 competitive teams, including the NASA HERC team (2025), FTC Team #16811 (2025),and FTC Team #16811 (2024). He added emotional maturity and his immense knowledge of engineering systems from cars into each of them. We will miss his presence and wish him success in his future endeavors.
In a truly inspiring opportunity, Isabella Tan had the honor of touring the National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) — a premier robotics research facility affiliated with Carnegie Mellon University. The NREC is known globally for its groundbreaking work in autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and field robotics.
During the visit, Isabella gained firsthand insight into how cutting-edge robotic technologies are designed, tested, and deployed across industries ranging from agriculture and construction to defense and space exploration. She observed various high-tech projects in development and spoke with engineers and researchers who are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with robotics.
This experience was not only exciting but deeply motivating. As a dedicated member of Magnetude Robotics and an aspiring programmer, Isabella walked away with a broader understanding of how robotics can be applied to solve real-world challenges — and how critical interdisciplinary thinking is in innovation.
Touring NREC reinforced her passion for robotics, design, and AI, and offered a glimpse into the kind of impact she hopes to make in the future. It was a meaningful step in her journey as a young innovator and STEM leader.
